To provide an imaging apparatus capable of calculating the degree of importance with respect to a picked-up image for a user.

The present invention relates to an imaging apparatus that picks up an image and comprises: an imaging unit for picking up the image of a subject; a time measuring unit which measures a photography preparation time for picking up the image; an importance degree calculation unit for calculating an importance degree coefficient representing the degree of importance of the image based on the photography preparation time measured by the time measuring unit; and a storage unit for storing the importance degree coefficient calculated by the importance degree calculation unit correspondingly to the image. The imaging unit includes a zoom lens, and the time measuring unit measures the photography preparation time based on a driving time of the zoom lens when picking up the image.
