Abstract:
To provide a display element which can be made compact, and to provide an electric appliance using the same.
In a liquid crystal display device using a liquid crystal panel being a display component as a display part, a CF substrate 4 and an array substrate 5 as a pair of substrates are arranged, which support polarizing plates (supported parts) prepared so as to cover an effective display area of a display screen. Moreover, the CF substrate 4 is provided with accommodation spaces 4a and 4b in which a driving IC (electric component) 15 and an FPC 8 (electric component) mounted in the peripheral part of the array substrate 5 can be accommodated, respectively.
