Abstract:
To provide a display element which includes a simple construction of members, is driven with low voltage, exhibits high contrast, and produces little fluctuation of reflectance in repeated driving.
The display element is characterized in that: it includes an electrolyte between mutually facing electrodes; at least one of the mutually facing electrodes includes a porous layer composed of a metal oxide; both a metal salt compound and an electrochromic compound are fixed to the porous layer; and black, white, and a color other than black are displayed by a driving operation of the facing electrodes.
