PURPOSE: To prevent a display from being blurred or having its deflection error by crosstalk.
CONSTITUTION: A plurality of emitters 1 and a plurality of gate electrodes 2 placed to surround the emitters 1 are arranged in a matrix to form a so-called lateral type cathode K, and the cathode K serves as an electron beam source. A plurality of phosphors 5 are arranged opposite to one another and in a matrix on the upper surface of the cathode K. The phosphors 5 are placed on the lower surface of a flat anode 3 that serves as an accelerating electrode placed on the lower surface or a flat glass substrate 9 having translucence. On an insulating layer 4 formed on the upper surface of a gate electrode 2, a partition plate 6 is placed approximately perpendicular to the phosphors 5 and within a space between the cathode K and the phosphors 5. Therefore, electrons radiated from the cathode K are kept from reaching the adjacent phosphors 5, so that crosstalk can be prevented.
