Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable the cleaning of adhered oil stains simply by rinsing or light wiping with water and to suppress the adhesion of dust on a display surface by providing the surface of a display base material with a surface layer contg. photocatalyst particles.
SOLUTION: The layer contg. the photocatalyst on the surface of the base material is formed on the surface of the display. The surface of the display is made highly hydrophilic according to the photoexcitation of the photocatalyst by having such surface structure. The hydrophilicity of the surface is, therefore, made higher than the lipophilicity. If the surface layer consist of the photocatalyst alone, the photocatalyst is preferably an oxide. Then, the oxide exhibits the hydrophilicity in the state that the contaminants in the environment are not adsorbed thereon and, therefore, these contaminants are expelled by the photoexcitation effect and an adsorbed water layer is formed, by which the hydrophilicity is easily exhibited and a uniform water film is formed.
