PURPOSE: To simplify the watertight structure of a light source, and make an exclusive component such as an LED case, etc., unnecessary by a method wherein for a refrigerator which is equipped with a lit display mechanism in the box, an optical fiber for which the light receiving side is arranged at a location to be confronted with a light source, and the light emitting side is arranged on the front surface of a shelf, is provided on the rear surface of a shelf.
CONSTITUTION: An L-shaped fastening piece 20 is formed on the rear surface of a shelf 7 which is arranged at a lower location of a refrigerating chamber 4, and the intermediate part of an optical fiber 21 of which both ends are inserted in tubular bosses 18, 19 formed on the rear surfaces of the front and rear walls of the shelf 7, is fastened to the fastening piece 20 to prevent the optical fiber 21 from drooping. At the end of the lower stage of the refrigerating chamber 4, a display panel 22 is arranged, and on the rear surface, a display base plate 23 on which a light emitting diode 11 to display the existence of water in a water tank 6 is attached, is fastened by claws. The water in the water tank is automatically fed to ice making trays for an automatic ice maker, but when it is detected that there is no water in the water tank by the temperature of the ice making trays, the light emitting diode 11 is lit up, and the existence of the water in the water tank is known by the lighting up of the light emitting diode 11 by the light emitting side 29 of the optical fiber 21.
