To provide a display module in which occurrence of uneven luminance such as a light source side abnormally bright portion is prevented and sufficient luminance is uniformly obtained over an entire surface of an effective display area.
A light absorption layer 19 is arranged by printing and applying a black ink to a diffusion sheet 16 on an area corresponding to an LED 12 on a flange portion Af between a light emission area Ae set on a light emission surface 11b and an effective display region Dd included inside the light emission area Ae on the light emission surface 11b of a light guide plate 11 on a backlight unit 10 disposed on the rear face side of a liquid crystal display panel 3. Thereby a light which is emitted from the LED 12, specularly reflected with a light reflection sheet 14, and is going to be emitted toward a light source side edge portion of the effective display region Dd, is absorbed.
