To improve design characteristics of a display panel of an on-vehicle instrument and, moreover, improve a yield during manufacture of a display panel.
A display panel 1 is partitioned into a light transmissive area 2 that transmits light and constitutes a display section and light interceptive areas 3 that do not transmit light. The display panel 1 is provided with a light transmissive base plate 4, and first printed layers 5, whose end parts consist of hiding layers positioned closer to light interceptive areas 3 than the boundary between a light transmissive area 2 and the light interceptive areas 3, are formed by printing in the light interceptive areas 3 on the front side of the base plate 4. On the front side of the first printed layers 5, second printed layers 6 that consist of a design application layer are formed by printing. The second printed layers 6 have an extending parts 6a that extend from the end part of the first printed layers 5 toward a light transmissive area 2, and end parts of the extending parts 6a are positioned on the boundary between the light transmissive area 2 and the light interceptive areas 3. On the uppermost layer, hairline patterns 9 are formed by printing.
