To provide a display panel which is flexible, is simple in constitution, is made smaller in size, is reduced in weight and is further inexpensive.
The display panel comprises a display medium constituted by arranging: a transparent substrate on a front side of the display panel, the transparent substrate being formed on a transport electrode with a first display pattern and a transparent electrode of the complementary pattern thereof via a non-conductive section; a substrate on a backside of the display panel, the substrate being formed on electrodes of a second display pattern and the electrodes of the complementary pattern thereof via a non-conductive section; and electrophoretic microcapsules provided between the electrodes of the substrates on the front side and the backside. The display panel further comprises: a power supply for applying a prescribed voltage to the electrodes on both sides of the display medium; and a circuit capable of performing selection of the timing for power supply and the voltage to apply and the application to the transparent electrode of the first display pattern and the electrode of the second display pattern and the complementary pattern thereof, and the application between the transparent electrode of the first display pattern and the electrode of the complementary pattern thereof and the electrodes between the second display pattern.
