Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display pattern forming method of an organic EL element in which various display patterns can be formed by a simple process.
SOLUTION: After forming an organic EL film 3 solidly on a transparent substrate 1, a high temperature mask 4 having a through hole 41 is made to come into contact with the organic EL film 2. By the heat of the high temperature mask 4, the organic EL membrane 3 of the part where the high temperature mask 4 has contacted loses light emission function to become a deactivation part 31. In addition, because the part corresponding to the through hole 41 does not make contact with the high temperature mask 4, it becomes a light emission part 32 where a light emission function is maintained. In this way, a display pattern of a shape corresponding to the through hole 41 is formed. The contact of the high temperature mask 4 may be made before a termination of the formation of the organic EL film and after at least one among the organic layers constituting the organic EL film has been formed, or may be made after having formed the electrode on the organic EL film.
