To test dot matrix LED display devices which are different in signal design by set makers under the same conditions.

An illumination control circuit 50 controls illumination of a display section 10 including light emitting elements such as LEDs arranged in matrix. In the illumination control circuit 50, a data line driving section 22 drives data lines of the display section according to externally supplied image data. A scanning line driving section 24 drives scanning lines of the display section according to an externally supplied synchronizing signal. A test section 40 supplies specified image data to the data line driving section 22 and a specified synchronizing signal to the scanning line driving section 24 to make the display section display a specified test pattern. The test section 40 once receiving an actuation instruction from outside conducts a test.
