Abstract:
To reduce in-plane unevenness of a dark part background of an image, having a bright object superimposed on the dark part background, due to a quantization error.SOLUTION: A display unit according to the present invention has: a BL luminance value determination part 6 which determines a back light luminance value of each area; a luminance estimation calculation part 7 which estimates luminance made incident on a liquid crystal panel; a correction coefficient calculation part 8 which calculates a correction coefficient for correcting an image signal from a result of the luminance estimation; an upper-limit value determination part 10 which determines an upper-limit value of the correction coefficient from a maximum back light luminance value; and a correction coefficient limit part 11 which limits the correction coefficient with the upper-limit value of the correction coefficient.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
