Abstract:
PURPOSE:To hardly show the pattern of a light shielding layer without increasing the number of dots, specially give smooth impression to an animated display and achieve a high quality picture without increasing costs. CONSTITUTION:A display which is formed by filling electro-optical material in between two boards and driving the electro-optical material with a dot-matrix picture element electrode or a stripe electrode patterned on either one of boards, a light shielding layer 11 is arranged in at least a partial area between the dot-matrix electrodes or between stripe electrodes to provide a recess or a protrusion in/on the pattern of the light shielding layer 11. The pattern of the light shielding layer 11 is separated into islands or a dot is split into several ones to shift pitches little by little.
