PURPOSE: To raise the efficiency of editing operations by providing a data regulator having a specific function to a proofreader and displayig a sentence and a function in data in two adjoining separate lines while keeping them in a given close relation.

CONSTITUTION: Original data for editing, prepared by a Chinese character input unit, are read in a processor 2 through an inputting unit 1 to store them in the processor 2, and at the same time they are sent to a regultor 3, where the data is separated into sentence and function. And, the data are display in two adjoining lines after being divided into sentence and function by a printer having a function to regulate output data so as to display them while keeping them in a given relation between the adjoining paired lines and also serving as one of an output unit 4 on the basis of output data of the regulator 3.
