To remove the whole assembly from a filter housing to discard it when a filter element is filled or clogged and also to prevent the contact with an operator in replacing the filter element by constituting the assembly of a disposable filter element and a cover.
This assembly includes a replaceable filter element and a cover 24. The filter element includes a ring of filter medium 26 to which plural end caps 28 are to be connected, and the ring defines an opening in which a perforated core 32 is arranged. Furthermore, the assembly is fitted to a fuel filter housing 34 having an open end 36 and a closed end, and in the center inside it, a stand pipe 38 is arranged. When a projection 14 extending from the end caps 28 enters the stand pipe 38, a valve member is pressed down and released. On the other hand, the cover 24 has a seal gasket 82 held by a protuberance with angles, and it is also discarded together with the assembly.
