To provide a disposal method and an apparatus for wastes such as meat meal/meat bone meal, associated with BSE (bovine spongiform encephalopathy or so called madcow disease) recently becoming controversial as for their disposal, by which the wastes can safely and efficiently be subjected to an incineration disposal by a single fuel combustion to be made harmless, odors do not leak to the outside by means of a closed system and an equipment cost is reduced.
The disposal method for the wastes, or the like, associated with the BSE comprises a process of charging materials to be disposed, which are composed of the wastes, such as cow corpses associated with the BSE, to a disintegrator 2 and disintegrating the materials to be disposed to sizes about ≤50mm square or ≤50mm diameter, a process of introducing the disintegrated wastes to an inactivation apparatus 5 and inactivating the wastes by holding the wastes for ≥20 to ≤240 minutes under the conditions of ≥3 to ≤10atm. and ≥133 to ≤180°C, and a process of charging the disintegrated wastes after the inactivation into an incineration furnace 31 and incinerating the wastes.
