Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disposal method for low level radioactive waste that can dispose of low level radioactive waste through total volume reduction and detoxification by decomposing a fire-resistant substance therein.
SOLUTION: The disposal method for low level radioactive waste uses ruthenium (IV) oxide as a catalyst in supercritical water to transform a macromolecular compound into gas and transform a deposited radioactive iron content and cobalt into an insoluble oxide, which is next vitrified before disposed of.
