To provide an industrially advantageous disposition including a step of separating waste plastics into soluble plastics and insoluble plastics by using a fractionation solvent.
The process comprises a dewatering step (i) of reducing the moisture in waste plastics to 5 wt.% or less, a dissolution step (ii) of selectively dissolving soluble components by using a fractionation solvent, a solid-liquid separation step (iii) of obtaining a fractionation solvent solution and a solid material comprising undissolved plastics, a decomposition step (iv) of concentrating the fractionation solvent solution and then thermally decomposing it, a fractionation solvent evaporation step (v) of bringing the undissolved plastics into contact with a noncondensing gas heated to 50-200°C to evaporate the fractionation solvent to thereby give a solid material and a gaseous mixture comprising a fractionation solvent vapor and the noncondensing gas, a condensation step (vi) of cooling the gaseous mixture to condense the fractionation solvent vapor to thereby form a liquid fractionation solvent and a noncondensing gas, a step (vii) of heating the noncondensing gas to 50-200°C, and a step (viii) of circulating the noncondensing gas through the fractionation solvent evaporation step.
