A dissimilar metal joining method that uses a cold spraying method which forms a coating on a base material by jetting material powder and a working gas with a lower temperature than a melting point or softening point of the material powder at a supersonic flow and allowing the powder and the gas to collide with the base material, includes: a step of forming a coating 3 consisting of aluminum or an aluminum alloy on a surface of a first base material 2 consisting of a steel, by the cold spraying method using a powder material consisting of the aluminum or the aluminum alloy; and a step of allowing the coating and a second base material 12 consisting of aluminum or an aluminum alloy to face each other and joining the first base material 2 and the second base material 12 to each other.
