Abstract:

To provide a novel dissolving equipment and a novel method of dissolving optical glass capable of making glass having high transmittability in a UV region.

This dissolving equipment has a dissolver for melt, a supply port for supplying high-purity raw materials for this melt, a takeoff port for taking off the material dissolved in the dissolver and a ceiling section disposed above the dissolver. The heater of the dissolving equipment which is provided with the supply port at the dissolver in the region of the ceiling section on the upper side of the melt, is provided with the takeoff port in the region at the bottom of the dissolver and is further equipped with the heater has heating elements, above all, electrodes, disposed at the dissolver in the region of the melt and the equipment is provided with a stirring apparatus which stirs the melt, uniformly incorporates the materials into the dissolved matter from the mixture placed on the surface of the dissolved matter and acts to mix the same.
