To provide the distal end of an endoscope by which a satisfactory observation image free from a ghost or a flare is obtained by using a transparent cover with uniform thickness at the distal end of the endoscope where the surface of an illumination window and that of the observation window are covered with the same transparent cover.

At the distal end of the endoscope where the surface of the illumination window 4 and that of the observation window 3 are covered with the same transparent cover 11, among respective parts of the transparent cover 11, the thickness of the part covering at least the surface of the illumination window 4 and that of the observation window 3 is formed to be equal, and a part through which an illumination light emitted from the illumination window 4 passes is formed to be in a shape of expanding outward (inflated part 12).
