Abstract:

PURPOSE: To correct the errors of detection on a highway and the like by calculating the respective quantities of correction to roads with a moving position from a plurality of proposed present positions which has already been measured to select a proposed present location in which the correction quantity becomes minimum, and then performing the renewal to the present position.
CONSTITUTION: A present position Z1 set for renewal is fixed for a first proposed present position, and a second and a third proposed present positions Z2, Z3 for absorbing the errors of distance are set in the frontward and backward roads. After settlement of proposed present positions, the vectors of travel motion including the distance and the direction covered in every given time are sought for the respective corrections to calculate the moving positions P1, 2, 3,... and then to perform the position correction by taking in the roads with map-matching. The predetermined number of the take-in distances h1, 2, 3,... for the respective proposed positions is sampled, and the deviations or the mean values of the take-in distances sampled for the respective proposed positions are found for monitoring. The proposed take-in position in which the deviation or the mean value is minimum is determined for the proper present position for renewal.
