PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique whereby distance errors are eliminated without requiring much time and labor, and distance can be displayed smoothly.
SOLUTION: The distance-measuring apparatus for display includes a distance table 3 in which a latitude and a longitude, and a distance from a start point for every predetermined interval are stored to correspond to each other, a GPS reception part 1, a latitude/longitude-calculating part 3, a GPS distance- calculating part 4, a display distance processing part 7 for adding a predetermined distance to the present distance for display, thereby updating the distance for display with an update timing of a predetermined time or predetermined distance, and an update timing adjusting part 8, which compares a distance searched for by the GPS distance-calculating part with the present distance for display by the update timing, and shortens the update timing, when the searched distance is larger by a predetermined distance or more than the present distance for display, or extends the update timing when the searched distance is smaller than the present distance for display, thereby adjusting the update timing.
