To provide a distortion compensation apparatus compensating for linear distortion without being affected by gain variation caused by compensation of the linear distortion.
Prior to linear distortion compensation processing based on a result of comparison between a compensated signal to be output from a modulation wave generation unit 11 and a feedback signal to be output from a band pass filter 15, in a linear distortion detection unit 18, gains of an amplitude level of the feedback signal and an amplitude level of the output signal of the modulation wave generation unit 11 are fixed to a predetermined gain by an automatic level control unit 17, a linear distortion component of the feedback signal is detected by the linear distortion detection unit 18 based on the output signal of the modulation wave generation unit 11, and the linear distortion component is compensated by a linear compensation unit 12.
