To provide a distributed mutual backup system making cooperative operation performing effective use a hardware resource of each computer be performed by heightening probability that the computer storing backup data is usable when needing a backup.

A backup data production means 102 produces the backup data to be distributed to the other computers from data produced by a user. A terminal use prediction means 103 communicates with terminal use prediction means 103 of the other computers 100-2 to 100-n through a data communication means 104, collects data on a state of each the computer, determines a backup destination, and instructs the backup destination to the backup data production means 102. A backup data storage means 105 stores the backup data sent from data communication parts 104 of the other computers 100-2 to 100-n.
