Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a distributed optical fiber temperature sensor having a high loss temperature sensitivity and a wide temperature measuring range.
SOLUTION: Pulse light of 1.55 μm wavelength band outputted from an optical pulse tester 100 enters an optical fiber 200 principally comprising quartz glass and added with OH group into core region and propagates through the optical fiber 200. Back scattering light is detected by the optical pulse tester 100 and the loss distribution in the longitudinal direction of the optical fiber 200 is determined based on the detected back scattering light and then temperature distribution in the longitudinal direction of the optical fiber 200 is determined based on the temperature dependency of loss of the optical fiber 200.
