Abstract:

To achieve high engine thermal efficiency even if a divided gas engine is operated in a high swirl ratio.

A gas engine is configured such that a lean mixture is supplied to a main chamber 1 in a swirl ratio of 1.0-2.5 while a rich mixture is supplied to a sub chamber 2. In this case, an ignition plug 4 is disposed in the vicinity of a connecting hole 6 of the sub chamber 2 to the main chamber 1. Consequently, it is possible to avoid a jet of unburned rich fuel in the main chamber 1, to eliminate a delay of flame propagation by a thermal pinch effect in spite of combustion in a high swirl ratio, and to prevent any deterioration of engine thermal efficiency due to a decrease in maximum pressure inside a cylinder.
