Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely divide a cathode-ray tube in a short time by forming a groove for division at the corner of the cathode-ray tube, and giving vibration to the corner of the tube after heating the periphery of the tube.
SOLUTION: A cathode-ray tube 200 is carried to a support board 24, and next centering to the support means 10 is performed. Next, by the motion of the motor 19 of a vertical motion mechanism 11, the tube 200 is lowered to the specified position, and the four corners of the tube 200 is put at the sections corresponding to four rotating cutters 51, and by these cutters, flaws 300 are made at the four corners of the tube 200. Furthermore, a support plate 24 is lowered, and by heater wires 71-74, the periphery of the flank of the tube 200 is heated to give thermal distortion in advance. Then, corresponding the grooves 300 at the corners of the tube 200 are given vibration from the horns of four ultrasonic oscillators. Each crack is made, with the groove 300 as a starting point, by giving this vibration.
