Abstract:
To provide a division method of carbon fiber agglomerate that divides the carbon fiber agglomerate into filamentous carbon fiber bundles simply and at low cost while avoiding the breakage of the carbon fibers.SOLUTION: A division method of finely dividing carbon fiber agglomerate TSG, in which a number of carbon fibers TS arranged generally in parallel are aggregated, into filamentous carbon fiber bundles TSB along the carbon fibers. A manufacturing apparatus thereof comprises a roller pressing device 10 having at least a pair of roller bodies 1 (11, 12) that rotate while pinching the carbon fiber agglomerate to feed it in a fiber direction of the carbon fibers. Outer peripheral surfaces 11G, 12G of the roller bodies 11, 12 respectively have crest parts 111, 121 and valley parts 112, 122 that are spirally formed with respect to their respective rotation shafts. In the pair of roller bodies, the crest part 111 of one roller body 11 and the valley part 122 of the other roller body 12 are oppositely arranged, and the crest part of the one roller body and the crest part of the other roller body rotate while pinching the carbon fiber agglomerate along the carbon fibers to divide it.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
