To obtain a new preferable recombinant DNA from a bacterium of the genus Corynebacterium, replicable in a coryneform bacterium, having a nucleotide sequence encoding a specific sod gene, useful for producing L-lysine, etc., by fermentation, etc.
This new preferable recombinant DNA is replicable in a coryneform bacterium, has at least a nucleotide sequence encoding a sod gene of the formula, is obtained from a bacterium of the genus Corynebacterium and is useful for a method for producing a vitamin and an L-amino acid, especially L-lysine by using a coryneform bacterium for amplifying the sod gene by fermentation. The recombinant DNA is obtained by culturing Corynebacterium melassecola ATCC 17,965, extracting a genome DNA by a routine procedure, constituting a genome DNA bank by using the genome DNA, screening the genome DNA bank by using a partial sequence of a super oxide dismutase gene (sod) as a probe and inserting the obtained sod gene into a vector.
