The DNA complex mixture for protecting viable lactobacilli comprises a gelling agent containing DNA, carrageenan and gelatin, an emulsion containing the viable lactobacilli, and starch, wherein the amount of the DNA is 2 to 10 mass% on the basis of the DNA complex mixture, the carrageenan is 0.6 to 1.2 mass%, and the gelatin is 10 to 17 mass%, and the mass ratio of the starch to the emulsion is 1.0 to 2.5. The DNA complex mixture according to this invention can attain a high lactobacillary delivery rate to the intestine and fully develop the effects of infection prevention, intestinal stasis, intestinal motility promotion, immunostimulation of the viable lactobacilli. Further, this complex mixture can easily be processed to liquid or gel health foods and particularly can be used as a material for fermented dairy products such as yogurt food or yogurt beverage.
