Title:
DNA FRAGMENT
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2688190
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject fragment capable of encoding an extracelular superoxide dismutase (EC-SOD) in an extracellular body fluid, containing a specific base sequence, having a native EC-SOD activity and capable of providing a peptide useful for prevention, treatment, etc., of diseases caused by superoxide radicals.
SOLUTION: This new DNA fragment is capable of encoding an EC-SOD in an extracellular body fluid, includes a DNA sequence represented by the formula or a nucleotide substitution without producing another amino acid sequence of the protein and comprises a modified sequence of the DNA sequence encoding the polypepdide having superoxide dismutating properties possessed by a native EC-SOD. The DNA fragment is useful for the diagnosis, prophylaxis or treatment, etc., of diseases or disorders associated with the presence or formation of superoxide radicals and oxygen intermediates having toxicity other than the radicals such as thrombosis, articular rheumatism, acute pancreatitis, nephritis, hepatitis, autoimmune diseases or diabetes.
