To provide a doctor blade which can enough remove excess transferred matter and keep the printing precision of the transferred matter constant without being changed with the passage of time and a high precision gravure printing press using the doctor blade.
In the doctor blade 1, the lower surface of an edge retreats from the upper surface 3 of the edge, and an edge surface 2 is formed in the same form with a part contacting the edge surface 2 of the surface of a gravure roll 10. The doctor blade 1 is grounded at a constant angle to the gravure roll. By making the edge surface 2 contact the surface of the gravure roll 10, the excess transferred matter adherent to the surface of the gravure roll 10 is removed. By pressing the gravure roll 10 with its recessed part filled with a necessary amount of the transferred matter to a material, the transferred matter is gravure-printed on the material.
