PURPOSE: To provide a document guide device which can regulate a paper width surely and easily in relation to a narrow name card sized paper sheet.

CONSTITUTION: A paper feed tray 1 is provided with two document guides 4 installed on its left/right side, rails 9 positioned and fixed to the document guide 4 and one small gear 7 engaged with the rack part 8 of the rail 9. Small document guides 5 are arranged invertably on two document guides 4 respectively and boss parts 12 engaged with the small document guide 5 are arranged on the document feed tray 1 and when a part of the small document guide 5 collides with the boss part 12 of the document feed tray 1, the small document guide 5 rises from a document guide surface automatically and the distance between the paper sheet regulating surfaces of the small document guide 5 is formed so as to become the width of a name card size.
