PURPOSE: To reduce the burden on an operator at the time of editing a document and to shorten an occupied time taken for editing the document by separating editing information from an image inputted in an input means so as to recognize it.

CONSTITUTION: The input means 4 inputs the image of an original picture obtained by adding editing information to the document and a separation means 8 separates said editing information from the image inputted in the input means 4. A recognition means recognizes the editing content of the document based on editing information separated in the separation means 8, and an editing means edits the document based on the editing content recognized in the recognition means. Thus, the burden of the operator can be reduced and the occupied time at the time of editing is reduced by modifying (editing) a character and a graphic on an original at the same time as the input of the original picture.
