PURPOSE: To make exactly the same display as a print image by displaying a specific number of characters nearby the cursor at a text screen display part at a window display part with character modification attributes.

CONSTITUTION: A text video RAM(T-VRAM) 7 is provided with an attribute area in addition to a character code area, and attribute data showing the attributes used when the characters are displayed on a text screen are stored in the attribute area. Further, a character is displayed at a text screen display part by what is called a text system which displays it on a CRT 10 by expansion into a bit map specifying the address of a character generator 12 corresponding to a pressed key of a keyboard 2, and a specific number of characters nearby the cursor are displayed graphically at a window part on the CRT 10 by storing a G-VRAM 8 with a dot pattern composed of modified patterns indicated with the attribute data and expanded character bit patterns. Namely, the characters are displayed at the window display part with the character modification attributes. Consequently, the same display as the print image is made at the window display part.
