To naturally rotate an opposing member having a white reference part and a conveyance guide part in synchronization with the conveyance of a document without any special driving source.
An opposing member 401 arranged on an opposite side of a second reading unit 25 is formed of a rotating body having a rotation center extending in a lateral width direction of a conveyance path. The rotating body has a white reference part 403 that is formed on an outer peripheral surface, and is to be a reference of document image correction by reading means. On the conveyance upstream side of the white reference part 403, a step part 405 having a thrusting surface 405a, and a conveyance guide part 404 are formed. When shading correction is performed while the white reference part 403 is in contact with contact glass 25e, and a document is conveyed in front of the second reading unit 25, a leading edge of the document presses the thrusting surface 405a to rotate the opposing member 401 in the conveyance downstream side, and the conveyance guide part 404 is then moved in front of the contact glass 25e.
