To provide a document information retrieval system for easily and appropriately retrieving document information.
When recognizing retrieval request information from a terminal device, the system acquires attribute information of bibliographic information of document information as a keyword for document retrieval. The system recognizes entropy of an attribute item in which the attribute information becomes an instance variable and an information quantity of the attribute information on the basis of an attribute set information list table and also recognizes other attribute information related to other attribute items relevant to the attribute information on the basis of the relevant attribute set information list table. As additional keyword candidate for narrowing down the document retrieval, the system displays other attribute information in a list on the basis of degrees of relativeness. The system can easily select the attribute information to be set so as to detect the appropriate number of documents desired by a user and decrease setting input operations for the document retrieval.
