When a shredding start switch 101 is ON and the ON state is recognized by a control section 10, the shredding means 2 is rotated by the control section 10, and the paper feed roller 5 is also rotated at the same speed to carry the waste papers 6 to the shredding means 2 one by one and store the shredded papers in a storage section 3 after shredding. When the shredding is completed and the shredding switch 101 is OFF, the shredding means 2 and the paper feed roller 5 are stopped by the control section 10. Also, shredding can be completed in a short time by so constituting a cutting device 1 as to carry the proper number of papers to the shredding means 2 in compliance with the thickness of papers.
