Title:
DOOR FOR AUTOMOBILE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3632850
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve occupant protection performance of a door upon receiving a collision force from the front of a vehicle body.
SOLUTION: This invention relates to a door for an automobile, and perticularly to a shock absorbing structure of the door 10 for an automobile. The structure comprises a door frame and a door inner panel 11 comprising a first and second long members 25 and 26 bridged over the front to rear direction inside the door frame. Each the first and second long members 25 and 26 has a fragile part 60 which breaks by being severed when a compressive force fixed or higher is applied. The fragile part 60 has a step formation of a short member 63 extending in the vehicle width direction between a first member 61 and a second member 62 extending in the front and rear direction of the vehicle body. When the collision force Fo is applied to the door 10 from the front of the vehicle body, the step part is severed due to the collision force Fo. As a result of the step part being severed, the first and second members 61 and 62 which extend in the front and rear direction of the vehicle body move relatively toward the rear and absorb the collision energy.
