Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a picture processing device and method with little picture quality deterioration when information specifying a copy machine, a person, etc., is added to picture data.
CONSTITUTION: 8×4 picture element data at the prescribed position of picture data is modulated by subtracting a prescribed value α from 2×4 picture element data 302 and 2×4 picture element data 303 and adding the prescribed value αto 4×4 picture element data 301 so as to permit a picture element number for subtracting the prescribed value to be equal to the picture element number for adding the prescribed value. Then, 8×4 picture element data is adopted as the unit of added information. The information units are plurally arranged on picture data so as to express additional information by the mutual position relation of the plural information units.
