To provide a door stop which eases a shock when a door is opened, automatically latches and holds the door in an open state, and makes the door closable only by operating the door.
A door stop body 5 provided for the door 1 has an engaging shaft 12 mounted thereon, which has a lower edge 13 thereof protruded downward. The engaging shaft 12 is repeatedly shifted to a lifted position and a protruded position in which the lower edge 13 is present above the lifted position whenever the lower edge 13 is pressed upward. Then a receiving portion 8 arranged on a floor has an operating surface 33 formed therein, which is inclined so as to press the lower edge 13 upward when the door is moved in an opening direction. The receiving portion further has an engagement termination portion 34 formed thereon adjacently to the operating surface 33, which does not engage with the lower edge 13 in the lifted position but engages with the same in the protruded position. Further the stopper body 5 is provided with a cushioning member 27 and a stopper 31, and the receiving portion 8 is provided with a cushioning wall 35 and a stopper wall 36.
