This double bearing type reel for fishing is formed so that a spool supported between both the side plates of a reel main body 1 can be switched into a fishing line-winding state or into a fishing line-releasing state by the use of a clutch mechanism. Therein, a braking member 14 having a spool-braking portion 12 is formed between the side plates behind the spool in a state capable of being pressed with an operation portion 13, thus permitting the braking of the rotation of the spool on the release of a fishing line.
