To provide a double-deck elevator capable of stably performing adjustment of a clearance of an upper car and a lower car.
A car position adjustment drive device 15 for varying the clearance of the upper car 13 and the lower car 14 by vertically moving both cars is supported on a lower part of an upper beam 8. The car position adjustment drive device 15 has a car position adjustment drive sheave 16. A pair of upper car suspension sheaves 17 is mounted on a lower part of the upper car 13. A pair of lower car suspension sheaves 18 is mounted on a lower part of the lower car 14. The upper car 13 and the lower car 14 are hung down relative to a main frame 6 by a plurality of ropes 19. The respective ropes 19 are wrapped around the position adjustment drive sheave 16 in a double-lap system.
