PURPOSE: To obtain a double-layer fabric so designed as to comprise an upper layer of transverse threads and a lower layer of transverse threads woven in pairs in parallel, with the transverse threads of the upper layer positioned above respective pairs of the transverse threads of the lower layer so as to decrease the possibility of slippage of the transverse threads of the upper layer relative to the transverse threads of the lower layer.

CONSTITUTION: This double-layer fabric, a filter cloth, is obtained by using the transverse threads 2, 3 of a lower layer forming the drive side of the filter cloth, the transverse threads 1 of an upper layer forming the paper side of the filter cloth, and longitudinal threads 4; wherein the transverse threads 1 are positioned above respective pairs of the transverse threads 2, 3 woven in pairs in parallel and threaded double, thereby preventing the filter cloth from thinning and getting more porous.
