Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to remove large contaminants by filtering fuel and to effectively remove the relatively small contaminants in the fuel flowing from a force pump by providing a double medium fuel filter which has the functions of primary and secondary fuel filters in combination and which alone is independent.
SOLUTION: The filter 20 for a diesel engine has a cylindrical canister 22, the opening end 26 of which is closed by a base plate assembly 28. The filter 20 is internally provided with twos of a primary filter cartridge 34 and secondary filter cartridge 64 of a completely independent element type. The fuel enters the primary filter cartridge 34 through the inlet disposed in a manifold 56 and after the fuel is filtered by passing paper filter media, the fuel flows through a space 112 and an outlet. The fuel is sent to the secondary filter cartridge 64 through a hole 28 disposed at this manifold 56 for the purpose of meticulous filtration and is filtered through the paper filter media, following which the fuel is emitted from the outlet 141.
