Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate disadvantages of the prior art.SOLUTION: A double seal device for a rotary shaft of this invention comprises the first and second seals. Both seals are installed side by side in a cylindrical housing through which a shaft to be sealed passes, each of the seals has a carrier ring of metallic material with an outer axial flange and an inner radial flange and a sealing washer. The latter forms a sealing lip slidably abutted against the shaft. The first seal seals against the first flowing medium and the second seal seals against the second flowing medium. Axial flanges 8', 9' of at least one carrier ring 8, 9 of both seals 3, 4 have extension segments at free ends. The extension segments form a ring structure formed with an opened hole or a recess, not covered with the sealing washer of the seal and substantially arranged to face against the surrounding groove 7 and face toward the other seals 4, 3.
