Recording paper is subjected to first carriage with its surface opposed to a recording part 24, and an image is recorded on the surface in the carrying process. The recording paper is subjected to second carriage with its reverse opposed to the recording part 24, and an image is recorded on the reverse in the carrying process. In a composite machine, a drying time is set to dry ink deposited on the surface of the recording paper. The second carriage by a carrying part 15 is started after the drying time passes from completing the first carriage. Jamming of the recording paper subjected to the second carriage is detected by a register sensor. A drying time for the current recording paper to be used for double-sided printing is set in accordance with the detection result of the jamming of the precious recording paper used for double-sided recording.
