Abstract:
To provide a double-sided side milling machine which does not cause the rotational displacement of a workpiece, and can perform exact end-face processing.SOLUTION: A double-sided side milling machine comprises: an index head 6 arranged at a lower frame part 4 of a processing frame 3, and rotated by a first control motor 8; an upper clamp mechanism 7 arranged at an upper frame part 5 of the processing frame 3; and a second control motor 9 for rotating the upper clamp mechanism 7. The second control motor 9 is a direct drive motor whose output shaft is directly connected to a clamp cylinder 71, and in which a penetration hole is formed at an axial core, and a rod 72 of the clamp cylinder penetrates the penetration hole. Since the index head arranged at the lower frame part 4 and the upper clamp mechanism 7 arranged at the upper frame 5 are arranged on the same axial line, even if a clamp force is increased, bending deformation hardly occurs at the upper clamp mechanism 7, and a workpiece W can be clamped by a sufficient large force. By this constitution, an end face of the workpiece W can be processed at an exact angle.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
