To provide an electrostatic type image forming method using an improved primary image forming body and intermediate transfer body.
The electrostatic type image forming method comprises the steps of: preparing a double sleeve type primary image forming body including a cylindrical core, a flexible inner sleeve which surrounds the core in firm contact therewith and is replaceable, and a photoconductive outer sleeve which surrounds the inner sleeve in firm contact therewith and is replaceable; forming a toner image on the primary image forming body; transferring the toner image electrostatically from the primary image forming body to the intermediate transfer body by applying an electric field to a primary transfer nip, the intermediate transfer body having a core, a flexible inner sleeve, and an electrically- resistant flexible outer sleeve; forming a second transfer nip between the intermediate transfer body and the transfer roller and applying an electric field thereto; and transferring the toner image electrostatically by forwarding an image receiving body into the second transfer nip.
